Betty S. Moore - 1926-2010

Betty S. Moore, 84, of Ashland, Ky., died Thursday morning, Feb. 25, 2010, in Our Lady of Bellefonte Hospital.

She was born Feb. 14, 1926, in Boyd County, Ky., a daughter of the late Lade and Stella Hall Stephens.

She was also preceded in death by her loving husband of nearly 60 years, Carl W. Moore, in 2002; a brother, James Stephens; and sisters Margaret M. Clevenger, Dora Stephens and Pauline E. Fraley.

She was retired from the State Vocational School and was a very devoted mother and grandmother.

Surviving are a son, Carl R. Moore of Ashland; a daughter, Jennifer J. Moore of Ashland; a brother, John L. Stevens of Summit, Ky.; sisters Laura Lee Eaton of Arlington, Texas, and Nora E. Goodwin of Cannonsburg, Ky.; grandchildren Aaron Christopher Moore of Ashland and Amy Lynn Moore of Westwood, Ky.; great-grandchild Christopher Chase Moore; a special friend, Helen Moore Terry, mother of her grandchildren; and her little dog, Lucy.

The funeral will be at 11 a.m. Saturday, Feb. 27, 2010, at Steen Funeral Home-13th Street Chapel in Ashland by Pastor Danny Goins. Burial will be in Rose Hill Burial Park.

Friends may call from 6 to 8 p.m. today, Feb. 26, 2010, at the funeral home.

Jennifer. I am so sorry for your loss of your mother. I went through that 6 years ago. It is not easy but God will give you the strength to go through this. I wish I could come home to be with you but I work this weekend. I want you to know if you need a place to escape to I live in the Do Drop Inn in Knoxville, Tn. You are welcome any time.
