Cecil Everett “Mack” McKenzie, 76, of Ashland, passed away Tuesday, June 6, 2017, at Woodland Oaks Health Care Facility.
He was born March 9, 1941, in Ashland, a son of the late Cecil Everett McKenzie Sr. and Ruth Harrison McKenzie. He also proceeded in death by his wife of 56 years, Janet Susan Workman McKenzie on March 20, 2017.
Mack retired after 28 years with the Army National Guard, 25 years with the Ashland Fire Department and was owner and operator of Mack’s Window Cleaning Service. He coached Ashland JFL for over 20 years and also Boyd County Optimist Girls Basketball and Baseball.
Survivors include a son, Jimbo McKenzie (Sabrena) of Ashland; daughters, Gerri Richardson (Scott) of Ashland and Diana “Mo”Taylor (Ken) of Ashland; brothers, Mike McKenzie of WV. Scott McKenzie of Lexington, KY, and Jim McKenzie of Ashland; sisters, Carol Runyon of Ashland, Ethel Dixon of Flatwoods, Betty Blizzard of Ashland and Fern Withrow of Ashland; grandchildren, Jennifer “Niki” Sanders, Ashley Hogsten, Eric Taylor, Alex Joseph Hoffman and Patty Richardson; great grandchildren, Jarrett Sanders, Ryder Hampton, Austin, Ethan, Skyler and Jace Hogsten, Noah Smith, Elijah Dewees, Drew Taylor and Brayden Hughes.
Funeral services will be held 1 p.m. Friday, June 9, 2017, at Steen Funeral Home 13th Street Chapel with words of comfort provided by Pastor Brian Steele and Pastor Mike Moore. Burial will follow at Golden Oaks Memorial Gardens where Military Honors will be provided by the U.S. Army, American Legion Kenova Post 93 and the Ashland Fire Department.
Visitation will be from 6 until 8 p.m. Thursday, at the funeral home.
