Don Miles Pitsenberger passed away peacefully among loving family, July 22, 2017. He was born in Williamson West Virginia, the son of Ira Albert and Mary Jay Pitsenberger. Don was a Veteran of the Korean War and holds degrees from Marshall University in Accounting (BS) and Geography (MS). He also studied Industrial Relations at the University of West Virginia and was a member of the Alpha Sigma Phi Fraternity. Don had a long and successful 34-year career with AK Steel. His personal passions included spending time with family, children, grandchildren, gardening, and woodworking. As a Master Gardner, he always produced an impressive vegetable crop, sharing its abundance and joy with all who knew him. Don was an active community member and was generous with his time and talents by helping anyone who needed assistance, often offering to repair homes, build household items or toys. His kindness extended well beyond the Ashland Community. Don was married 57 truly joyful years to his loving wife Beverly. Holiday time at their house was always a highlight of family and friends. Thanksgiving was his favorite as he was always grateful for his family and what God had given him. Later in life, one of his favorite things to do first thing in the morning was to step out on the porch, look up and thank God for his blessings. His grandchildren sparked and incredible energy in him. His unique sense of humor, generosity, energy, perspective and sense of community were all beautiful gifts. His life is an inspiration to us all. He was preceded in his death by his son Dan Pitsenberger. He is survived by his loving wife Beverly Wood Pitsenberger, his children Susan Russell (Jimmy), Cindy Burmaster (Wayne), daughter-in-law Kelly Pitsenberger, and his grandchildren Jay (Margaret) and Matthew Russell, Kate, Drew, and Charlie Pitsenberger, and Christopher and Caroline Burmaster.
