James Jerome Smith, 39, of Ashland, passed away Wednesday, September 27, 2017 at King’s Daughters Medical Center.
He was born November 10, 1977, in Ashland, a son of Gwen Ellison Masterson and the late Talmadge Smith. In addition to his father, he was preceded in death by a son, Tavon Smith; and a brother, Tyrone Ellison.
Jerome worked for the Big Sandy Furniture Warehouse in Franklin Furnace, Ohio. He was a devoted family man with a larger than life personality. He will be missed by all who knew him.
Survivors include his mother Gwen Ellison Masterson and step father, Cedric Masterson of Ashland; sons, Terrick, Tamel and Tevin Smith of Ashland; daughters, Dominique Smith of Florida, Taryn Smith and Taylan Smith of Ashland, Neviah Carlisle of Ironton, OH, and Zayah McLemore of Barboursville, WV; brothers, Thomas Snyder, II of Atlanta, GA, Jevon Snyder, Michael Smith and Norman Smith of Ashland; sister, Jessica Snyder of Ashland; and a host of loving aunts, uncles, extended family members and dear friends.
Funeral services will be held 1 p.m. Monday, October 2, 2017, at Christ Temple Church with Elder J.D. Crockrel officiating. Burial will follow at Golden Oaks Memorial Gardens.
Visitation will be from Noon until 1 p.m. Monday, at the church.
Arrangements have been entrusted to Steen Funeral Home Central Avenue Chapel.
