Larry Clayton Crum

August 7, 1944 ~ April 16, 2024 (age 79) 79 Years Old

Tribute

Larry Clayton Crum, 79, of Cannonsburg, Kentucky, departed from this earth and ascended to his heavenly home on the morning of Tuesday, April 16, 2024, at the Southern Ohio Medical Center. Larry was a beacon of light and love to all who knew him, leaving behind a legacy of kindness, engagement, and community spirit.
Born on August 7, 1944, in Hitchins, Kentucky, Larry was the son of the late Paul Edwin Crum and Minnie Jackson Crum. In addition to his parents, Larry was preceded in death by brothers Eddie, Keith, and Gaylord Crum; sister Bonnie Crum; sister-in-law Connie Crum; and brother-in-law, Paul Pinson.
An alumnus of Boyd County High School, Ashland Community College, and Southland Bible Institute, Larry served with distinction as a United States Navy veteran before embarking on a career as an overhead crane operator at Armco Steel. His retirement was anything but restful, as he threw himself into his roles as a master tile setter and entrepreneur at LC Good’n Square Tile Company while also overseeing many family construction projects as the “Construction Superintendent.”
Larry's community spirit shone through his active membership at the First Baptist Church of Cannonsburg and his years at Oak Springs United Baptist Church. Known to many as a Little League Baseball coach at Fraley Field and assistant coach of Boyd County's girls' soccer team, he was also an active member and leader throughout the Boyd County community. Larry was an avid woodworker, passionate basketball player, and devoted grandfather. His membership of the "Cannonsburg Gang" was indicative of the deep connections he fostered throughout his life.
Those left to cherish his memory include his loving wife, Linda Maynard Crum of Cannonsburg, KY; a daughter Amy Katherine Crum (Brandon) Alley of Ashland, KY; and sons Matthew Clayton (Teresa) Crum and Jason Michael (Tina) Crum, both of Catlettsburg, KY; his brothers William Crum of Cannonsburg, KY, and Gary (Peggy) Crum of Georgia; as well as his sister Sharon Crum Pinson of Summit, KY; his grandchildren Lakin Crum, Slone Alley, Clayton (Camryn) Crum, Sawyer Alley, Garrett Crum, Ella Crum, Ethan Crum, Emma Crum, Maggie Crum, and Michelle (James) Walsh; his sisters-in-law, Nadine and Robin Crum; and a host of loving nieces, nephews, extended family members, and dear friends.
Funeral services to commemorate Larry's life and legacy will be held at Noon on Friday, April 19, 2024, at First Baptist Church of Cannonsburg, with Pastor Lee Jackson officiating. Burial will follow at the Kentucky Veterans Cemetery, North East.
Friends and family are invited to pay their respects during visitation hours from 6-8 pm on Thursday, April 18, 2024, at Steen Funeral Home, 13th Street Chapel and from 11 am until Noon Friday, at the church.
