Barbara Jean “Jeanne” Adkins of Ashland, KY, age 70, died November 28, 2022, after a long illness. Jeanne was the widow of James Johnnie Adkins of Huntsville, AL.
Jeanne was born February 23, 1952, in Hamlin, WV to Edsel and Alma Hager. Jeanne was preceded in death by her mother, Alma Hager of Russellville, KY and her sister, Joy Ray of Lesage WV.
Jeanne is survived by her long-time partner, Bill Hall of Ashland, KY, her son James J. Adkins II of Huntsville, AL, her granddaughters Tori Adkins (Ohry Rind) of Hazel Green, AL and Jasmine Adkins of Huntsville, AL, her grandson Dustin Reid of Woodville, AL, and numerous nieces and nephews.
She was known by Jeanne to her friends, but her favorite name was what her grandchildren called her, MawMaw. Jeanne loved to travel and spend time with family and friends. She enjoyed going to the casinos in Las Vegas and was well known for her love of Snoopy. Jeanne started college later in life and graduated with a Bachelor of Business Administration degree from Athens State University when she was 46 years old.
Toward her end, Jeanne resided at Morning Pointe of Russell, KY and was well cared for by their staff. Jeanne’s family is grateful for the services Community Hospice provided during her final months.

A memorial service will be held at 2:00 p.m. Thursday, December 1, 2022, at STEEN FUNERAL HOME CENTRAL AVENUE CHAPEL with words of comfort provided by Chaplain Jimm Smedley.
