Bertranese L. Scyphers, 84, of Ashland, died Tuesday, January 24, 2023 at her residence.
She was born January 8, 1939 in Ashland, the daughter of the late Earl and Alice Leadingham Frazier.
“Sugar” was the name she went by to her close friends and family. She had a mutual love for all her family, including her nieces and nephews. She was a Christian woman who loved her Lord. She loved going to her farm, being at the lake fishing, vacationing and doing crafts, especially flower arrangements and beautiful wreaths. She will be deeply missed by her family.
She was a former cafeteria worker and school bus driver for the Ashland School System and a member of the Christ Temple in Huntington, West Virginia.
In addition to her parents, a brother, Harold Frazier and two sisters, Doris Childers and Francis Wells, also preceded her in death.
Survivors include her loving husband of 66 years, Donald E. Scyphers; two daughters, Carol Estep and husband Randy of Ashland and Dawn Miller and husband Dean of Mansfield, Ohio; one son, Mike Scyphers and wife Lynda of Bardstown, Kentucky; seven grandchildren and two great grandchildren.
Funeral services will be conducted, 1:00 PM Saturday, January 28, 2023 at the STEEN FUNERAL HOME, 13TH STREET CHAPEL by Rev. Rob Hale. Burial will follow at the East Carter County Memory Gardens. The family will receive friends from 12:00 PM until 1:00 PM Saturday at the funeral home.
