Betty E. Nuckols

Betty Ellen Gearhart Nuckols, 94, of South Point, OH, formerly of Ashland, KY, passed away Friday, June 10, 2022 at the Hospice Care Center in Ashland. Betty was born July 22, 1927 in Boyd County, KY, a daughter of the late Morton D. and Agatha Fields Gearhart. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by sisters, Joann Gearhart and Emilie Yvonne (Carl) Harrison.
Betty was a 1945 graduate of Ashland High School, Past President of Beta Sigma Phi Sorority, Eastern Star, Past Queen of “Daughters of the Nile” Akiele Temple #128 and was a member of the South Ashland United Methodist Church where she served as past president of WMU.
Betty is survived by her loving husband of 74 years Jack R. Nuckols of Ashland, KY, sons Jack Randall (Sarah Etta) Nuckols and Gary Dean (Debbie Hensley) Nuckols, a brother Morton D. Gearhart, sisters Sharon Rose Artis, Sally (Jack) Streets and Carol R. Odle, three grandchildren Ian Jackson Nuckols, Saretta Anne (Brian) Jackson and Mari Elizabeth Jackson, two great grandchildren Anna Sarah Jackson, Elysa Brianne Jackson and a host of extended family and dear friends.
Funeral services will be held 1:00 P.M. Wednesday, June 15, 2022 at the STEEN FUNERAL HOME CENTRAL AVENUE CHAPEL by Rev. Keith Katterheinrich. Burial will follow at the Gearhart-Martin Cemetery in Boyd County.
Visitation for Betty will be Tuesday evening from 6-8 pm and Wednesday from 12:00 Noon till service time at the funeral home.
