Carl William Rardon, 85, of Ashland, Kentucky, went to be with the Lord, July 7, 2021, following a short illness. Carl was predeceased by his parents, Charles & Dessie Rardon, as well as siblings: Jean (Pat) Riggs, Lois (Shearl) Edler & Earl (Mary Ellen) Rardon. He will be missed by his family including: his loving wife Ginger (Keeton), his children Susan (Bob Rose), Kim (Phil Metzger), and Jason Rardon (Rachel); a brother-in-law, Gregory W. Keeton (Linda), his grandchildren David, Lauren (Tony Brown), Joe, and Ethan; his great-grandchildren Olivia, Noah and Samuel; and many nieces and nephews.
Carl was born, in 1935, in Ravenswood, West Virginia. He graduated from Spencer High School where he earned All-State Choir honors. After attending Marshall University, Carl decided to begin a career as a barber at Ashland Barber College bringing him to Ashland, Kentucky where he would meet his beloved wife, Ginger. He owned and operated Rardon’s Barber Shop in Russel, KY from 1963 until his retirement in 2010. He was very proud of his business, and its success in Russell. He was especially happy with the friendships made over the years, and the generations of families who became his customers and friends during and after its run. He was also a member of Ashland First Church of the Nazarene, a member of the Masonic Lodge, and he was extremely proud of his military service.
Carl’s greatest joy was his family, and he loved spending time with them. After retirement, he and Ginger enjoyed traveling. They especially enjoyed vacationing in Gatlinburg, and Florida. In particular, Madeira Beach, Florida became a favorite spot for them. They enjoyed countless trips to Florida, and Carl often spoke of the peacefulness of the beach, and how he loved his time there with family.
Carl enjoyed many hobbies. Some of his favorites were golf, Kentucky basketball & the Cincinnati Reds. He enjoyed many trips to Rupp Arena, and Riverfront Stadium/Great American Ballpark. One of his honored family traditions was the annual trip to Reds Opening Day with family. They attended every Opening Day game since 1983, and this day was a special event every Spring.
Carl’s life exemplified kindness and generosity. He was always prepared to lend a hand to a friend, and his generous nature was a hallmark of his life. He will be missed by all who knew him.
