Charles Ray White, 72, of Ashland, peacefully passed away Tuesday, January 9, 2018 at Kingsbrook Lifecare Center in Ashland. Mr. White was born April 30, 1945 in Holden, West Virginia, a son of the late Charles C. and Geneva Parsons White. In addition to his parents he was also preceded in death by his two brothers Russell and Ernie White. Charlie was a graduate of Boyd County High School. He retired from GTE after 30 years of service and then owned and operated his own business, CW Communications. His work continues to this day in many locations throughout the Tri-State area. If you knew Charlie White then you know he loved the game of golf. He was an Avid Golfer and was a fierce competitor on the course. He was a former golf instructor at Boyd County High School and a senior volunteer at Hidden Cove in Grayson, KY. He served his country proudly with the KY Army National Guard. Survivors include his loving wife Bobbie White of Ashland, daughters Ashley Waddell and husband Tracy of Ashland, Alisha Woddisheck and husband Ken of Union, KY, sisters Joyce Ball of Ashland, Judy Thorn and husband Don of Perrysville, OH, grandsons David Waddell, Max Waddell, Liam Woddisheck, longtime friend and golf buddy Jim Armstrong and a host of extended family and friends. Funeral service will be held 11:00am Thursday, January 11, 208 at the Steen Funeral Home 13th St. Chapel. Burial will be in the Bowling Cemetery on Whites creek. Visitation will be Wednesday evening from 6-8 PM at the funeral home. In lieu of flowers, please consider a contribution to the Jr. Golf League in Charlie’s honor.
