Christopher C. Barr Jr.

Mr. Christopher C. Barr, Jr. 90, of Ashland, Kentucky, was called to his Heavenly home on Saturday, October 17, 2020. He was at home with his loving family by his side.
Mr. Barr was born December 13, 1929 in Buffalo, NY, a son of the late Christopher C. Sr., and Ida Bradley Barr. In addition to his parents, he was also preceded in death by a daughter Cynthia Barr and a sister and her husband, Mrs. Jannie and Arthur Davis.
Mr. Barr was a member of the St. James African Methodist Episcopal Church in Ashland. He was president and a very active member of the Boyd-Greenup County Branch of the NAACP. He also served his country honorably with the United States Army during the Korean War.
Mr. Barr was transferred to the Ashland Area from his home in Buffalo, NY after a move with Ashland Oil, Inc. He retired after 45 years of service as a Lab Technician.
Those left to cherish his memory include his loving wife of 61 years Mrs. Ruby N. Bryant Barr of Ashland, his son Christopher C. Barr, III and wife Mozella of Jacksonville, FL, his daughters Sharon Holmes and husband Alphonso of Buffalo, NY, Marjorie Barr of Ashland, KY, Crystal Green and husband Clayton of Buffalo, NY, Tracy Beach and husband Bruce of Jacksonville, FL, his grandchildren Kadisha Johnson, Shrie Barr, Angela Green, Sade Barr, Gregory Beach, Jena Barr, Michele Hudson, Mariah Barr, Brittney Holmes, Christopher Barr IV, Darious Green, Alphonso Holmes. Jr., twelve great grandchildren and a host of extended family and good friends.
Funeral services will be held 1:00pm Saturday, October 24, 2020 at the Steen Funeral Home Central Avenue Chapel by Reverend Leonard Curry. Burial will immediately follow services at the Golden Oaks Memorial Gardens in Ashland.
Visitation will be Saturday at the funeral home prior to services from 11:00am till service time at 1:00.
