Clara Marie (Ridener) Alsip, 91, of Catlettsburg, KY, passed away peacefully at the Community Hospice Care Center and went to be with her Lord and Savior on Monday, June 13, 2022.
Clara Alsip is survived by her husband of nearly 70 years, Stanley G. Alsip; granddaughter Leslie (Walls) Gibson and husband Grant of Alpharetta Georgia, grandson William Walls and wife Bonnie of York Pennsylvania, granddaughter April (Reels) Weaver of Dover Delaware, grandson Phil Walls and wife Angela Grillo of Winterville, North Carolina; and grandson Dustin Reels and fiancée Nikki of Leesburg, Florida; her great-grandchildren Kara, Trent, and Brendan Gibson, Justin Walls and wife Faith, Becky (Walls) Menas and husband Robbie, Julia Walls and Matt Walls, Colby, Kaylee, and Layla Weaver, Brittney Grillo, Ashley Walls, Emma (Walls) Pagano and husband Sal, Zach Walls and Zander Reels; great-great-grandchildren Thea and Mia Walls, Landon and Weston Menas, Jaxon Grillo, and Vladimir Pagano; and numerous nieces and nephews.
Clara was born on November 6, 1930, in Corbin, Kentucky. She was pre-deceased by her parents, Grant L. Ridener and Bessie B. (Sharp) Ridener; siblings Harold J. ("Junior") Ridener, Carl E. Ridener, Willy Ridener, Paul Wendell Ridener, Betty June (Ridener) Owenby; and her children, Vicki Sue (Reels) Walls, Bernard Ross Reels, and Darrell Grant and Dewayne Green Alsip, who died in infancy. She grew up in Corbin, lived in Michigan briefly and in Newark, Delaware for many years, where she worked at Woolworth's. She retired to Kentucky in 1988. Clara is fondly remembered for her love of gardening and flowers, creating delicious meals for her family, and the best peanut-butter fudge ever made.
A graveside service will be conducted Monday, June 27, at 1pm at Kentucky Veterans Cemetery North East.
