Clara Mae Slone

Clara Mae Slone, a lifelong resident of Ashland, passed away peacefully Monday, September 28, 2020 with her loving family at her side.
Mrs. Slone celebrated her 90th birthday this year, born April 3, 1930 in Pontiac, Michigan. She was one of five children born to the late Vernon and Chloe Burchwell Fisher.
In addition to her parents she was also preceded in death by her loving husband of 57 years Lawrence Slone, four brothers Johnny Fisher, Buhl Fisher, Berchel Fisher, Art Fisher and an infant son Kip Slone.
Clara was a homemaker, who traveled the world with her husband, while serving twenty years in the United States Military. She worked as a military base host, welcoming new families to different Air Force Bases.
Those left to cherish her memory include her daughter Johnda (Biff) Holbrook of Ashland, her son Vernon (Bernice) Clark of Ashland, granddaughters Jessica (Eric) Kersey, Chrissy Copley, great grandchildren Rylan Kersey, Brooklyn Kersey, Carson Copley, Jaxon Copley, Finn Copley and a host of extended family and friends.
Funeral services will be held 1:00pm Thursday, October 1, 2020 at the Steen Funeral Home Central Avenue Chapel by Pastor Shane Cox. Burial will conclude in the Golden Oaks Memorial Gardens.
Visitation will be held prior to services from 12:00Noon till service time at 1:00pm.
