Clarence Maupin Jr.

Clarence “Jumbo” Maupin, Jr. 77, of Ashland, peacefully passed away Sunday, February 3, 2019 at Kings Daughters Medical Center. Mr. Maupin was born January 30, 1942, in Ashland, a son of the late Clarence Sr. and Ann Marie Glancy Maupin. In addition to his parents he was preceded in death by his loving wife Donna Jean Maupin and his K-9 companion Bandit.
Clarence attended the Flatwoods Church of Christ and served with the Kentucky Army National Guard. He graduated from Ashland High School Class of 1960 and soon started a career with Armco Steel Company. He retired in the T&L Department after 42 years of service.
In his pastime he loved to garden, research genealogy and family history and enjoyed stamp collecting.
Mr. Maupin is survived by a son Michael Maupin and wife Dana of Flatwoods, a daughter Kim Nethercutt and husband Edgar of Ashland, sisters Veronica (Buck) Wheeler of Raceland, Liz (Frank) Watts of Summit, grandchildren Jessica (Chuck) Maupin, Zachary Maupin, Justin Kitchen, Mercedes Maupin, great grandchildren Gabe, Lilly, Aubrey, several nieces, nephews and a host of extended family and friends.
Funeral services will be held 11:00am Thursday, January 7, 2019 at the Steen Funeral Home Central Avenue Chapel by Edgar Nethercutt. Burial will be in the Rose Hill Burial Park.
Visitation will be Wednesday evening from 6-8pm at the funeral home.
