Dixie Lee Jackson

Dixie Lee Jackson, 88, of Bellefonte, died peacefully Sunday evening at her residence.

She was born June 15, 1934, in Ashland, Kentucky to the late Delbert Scott and Lena Gertrude Keeney Jordan. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her loving husband of 60 years, Claude M. “Jack” Jackson; brothers, John Jordan and William D. Jordan; and sisters, Emma Louise Griggs and Lola Lucille Imes.

Dixie was a 1952 graduate of Ashland High School and was a member of the former Centenary United Methodist Church. Dixie and her husband, Jack lived in South Florida for 45 years before returning to their hometown of Ashland, in 2005. Dixie was adored for her quick wit and loving personality. She was unapologetically honest, but was quick to say I love you. Never having children, she adopted others as her own. Often being honorary mother, to her friend’s children and neighbors. In later years as her health declined, she enjoyed warm summer afternoons on her porch, feeding squirrels and offering treats to neighborhood pets.

In accordance with Dixies wishes, a graveside service will be held at 2:00 p.m. Thursday, June 8, 2023 at Ashland Cemetery Mausoleum Chapel with Pastor Troy Poff officiating.
