Donald G. Thompson, 88, of Lexington, KY, formerly of Ashland, passed away Thursday morning March 14, 2019. Don was born March 3, 1931 in Portsmouth, Ohio, a son of the late Fred E. and Opal Webb Thompson. He was also preceded in death by his son David Thompson
Don was a very active member of the Lions Club, the El Hasa Shrine and a 32nd degree mason of the Hampton Lodge #235 F&AM in Catlettsburg. He also was a past member of the Ashland School Board. Don served his country honorably with the United States Air Force.
Don retired from the Ashland Oil Refinery. He also worked for Brock-McVay Heating & Air and his own company Thompson Equipment that was formerly located on 29th St. in Ashland.
Don is survived by his loving wife Betty Jean Workman Thompson, sons Dan and wife Steph, Dennis and wife Joyce, daughter Donna, sister Betty MacGregor, Grandchildren Kevin (Jamie), Steven, Genna and Kyle (Cat). Great grandchildren Kalob, Kennedy, Cristopher, Kadaynce, Allison, Luke, Charlotte and expected July Athena Grace.
Funeral services will be held 1:00pm Monday, March 18, 2019 at the Steen Funeral Home 13th Street Chapel by Pastor Stephen Bruce. Burial will be in the Bellefonte Memorial Gardens with full military honors provided by American Legion Post #93.
Visitation will be from 11:00am till 1:00pm Monday at the funeral home.
