Doris Catherine "Katie" Meade

Doris Catherine “Katie” Meade, 99, of Ashland, KY passed away at her residence on September 22, 2022. She was born in Huntington, WV on July 10, 1923 to the late John S. and Lorena Parsley Marcum. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband Ernest N. Meade, brothers, William J. Marcum and his wife Georgia Meade, Glen Marcum, David O. Marcum, Bruce and Cindy Marcum, sisters Evelyn Claire Lawrence and her husband Kie, and Lucille Spandau and her husband Ken, brothers-in-law, Leonard Daloia, and Lawrence Pauley, and one of her care givers Madalon Smith.
She was the owner of K E Tire Company and managed various rental properties. Katie was also a member of First Church of the Nazarene.
She is survived by a daughter Cathy Meade of Ashland, KY, a son Richard D. Meade “Dicky” and wife Paula of Ashland, KY, sisters Virginia Daloia of Columbus, OH, Barbara Pauley of Huntington, WV and Rita K. Hereford and husband John of Cleburne, TX, a sister-in-law Joyce Marcum of Huntington, WV, as well as two grandsons Richard A. Meade and Maxwell D. Meade both of Boca Raton, FL and nieces and nephews, too many to mention. She is also survived by her precious K-9 companion Pearl and those who lovingly cared for her, Wanda Daniels, Connie Lambert, Kari Jewell, Paula Workman, Laura Stevens Moore, Karen Stewart, Leverna Terry, and her Hospice nurse team Amy and Sheena.
Funeral services will be held on Saturday, September 24, 2022 at 1:00 P.M. at STEEN FUNERAL HOME-CENTRAL AVENUE CHAPEL. Entombment will follow in Ashland Cemetery. Visitation will be at the funeral home from 11:00 AM until service time at 1:00 PM. The service will be livestreamed for those who are unable to attend.
