Gerald Lyons, Sr., 88, of Ashland, passed away Friday, August 7, 2020, in Kingsbrook Lifecare Center.
He was born November 22, 1931, in Ashland, KY, a son of the late Ezekiel and Bessie VanHoose Lyons. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by three brothers, James, Paul and Walter Lyons; and a sister, Kathryn “Kay” Miller.
Gerald was an avid golfer who made 13 holes in one throughout his lifetime. He enjoyed bowling, playing cards and retired following a long career in the grocery business.
Survivors include his loving wife of 68 years, Margaret Murnahan “Dink” Lyons of Ashland; sons, Gerald Lyons, Jr. (Trish) of Ashland and Jeff Lyons of Ashland; grandchildren, Geoffrey Brett Lyons, Whitney Lowe (Chris), Anthony Adkins, Alexandra Lyons and Elicia Nore (Michael); and two great grandchildren, Leighton and Crosbie Lowe.
Funeral services will be held at 1 p.m. Monday, August 10, 2020, at Steen Funeral Home 13th Street Chapel. Burial will follow in Golden Oaks Memorial Gardens.
Visitation will be held from 11:30 a.m. until 1 p.m. Monday, at the funeral home.
Due to the ongoing Covid 19 pandemic, masks and social distancing will be required.
