Gretchen Williams Hamilton

September 13, 1931 ~ November 26, 2022 (age 91) 91 Years Old

Tribute

Gretchen Ann Williams Hamiton, 91, of Westwood, passed peacefully from this life on Saturday, November 26, 2022, at the Community Hospice Care Center in Ashland.

Gretchen was born September 13, 1931, to the late Julius and Alfretta Winkler Tomlin. She grew up in Sciotoville, OH and was a graduate of Portsmouth East High School. She married Harold Wayne Williams in 1951 and they raised five devoted and loving children.
Gretchen had a beautiful alto voice and she and Wayne could often be found singing in gospel groups with their siblings, friends, and children. Though Alzheimer's took much of her memory, she still remembered all the words to her favorite songs and never missed a note. She was equally talented in the kitchen and *tried* to pass her talents down to her children. Most recently, she enjoyed word search puzzles and any dessert placed in front of her.

Gretchen was preceded in death by her husband, Wayne, and her three siblings: Dana Warner, Rex Tomlin, and Janet Vallance.

She later married Eulas Hamilton, who survives.
In addition to her husband, Gretchen is survived by her five children: Rev. Steve (Jill) Williams of
Ashland, Marilyn (Brian) Humphrey of Willow Spring, NC, Bob (Jerri) Williams of Ashland, Donna (Gene) Waggoner of Greenup, and Joe (Nancy) Williams of Lucasville, OH. Additionally, she was Mammaw to 11 grandchildren and 15 great-grandchildren with one more on the way. She also leaves behind a large extended family of brothers and sisters in law, nieces and nephews, Eulas's children and grandchildren, and her church families at 13th Street Freewill Baptist, Union Freewill Baptist, and Hoods Creek Regular Baptist Churches. The family thanks caregivers Roxanne Pokowlski and Anne Spurlock, those at Woodland Oaks who became attached to and cared for Gretchen and the wonderful friends at Community Hospice.
