J. Elaine Preston

Janet Elaine Preston, 62, of Ashland, passed away Tuesday, October 12, 2021 at Kings Daughters Medical Center.
Elaine was born April 4, 1959 in Zanesville, Ohio, the daughter of the late George and Madeline Greene Preston. In addition to her parents, Elaine was preceded in death by her brother, George Greene Preston.
Elaine was a 1977 graduate of Paul G. Blazer High School and loved the Ashland Tomcats and Kentucky Wildcats. Elaine completed her undergraduate studies at Cumberland College and went on to achieve a Rank 1 in Education.
Elaine was a long time member of First Baptist Church Ashland. She was a Special Education teacher for over 30 years with the Ashland Independent Schools. She served multiple years as a committee member for Summer Motion as well as serving many years on the committee for The Festival of Trees. She also served on various leadership and extra curricular activity committees for Ashland Independent School District.
Elaine traveled to many foreign countries including, Russia, Paris France and London England. New York, New York was where she loved going for Broadway Shows and watching the ball drop on New Year’s Eve.
Those left to cherish her memory include her sister, Portia Bentine; brother, Danny Preston; nephews, John Michael Bentine Jr. and wife Goldie, and James Edward Bentine; great nieces, Kelsi Reane’ Bentine and Brittany Nicole Bentine; and great nephews, John Michael Bentine III and Dylan James Bentine.
A funeral service will be held at 1:00pm Saturday, October 16, 2021, at STEEN FUNERAL HOME 13TH STREET CHAPEL with words of comfort provided by David Greene. Burial will follow in the Golden Oaks Memorial Gardens.
Visitation will be Saturday from 12:00 Noon until service time at the funeral home
