Jack Tildon Williams, 94, of Ashland, passed away Wednesday, July 10, 2019 at his residence surrounded by his loving family. Jack was the last surviving child, one of fifteen children, born May 12, 1925, to the late Henry and Lydia Varney Williams. In addition to his parents he was also preceded in death by his wife Juanita Williamson Williams a grand-daughter-in-law Lisa Marie Walker and 14 brothers and sisters.
Jack moved to the Ashland area from Pike County, KY in 1955. Prior to that, Jack served his country honorably in the United States Navy during World War II on a Destroyer having crossed the Atlantic 22 times. After the war he worked as a coal miner and for a short time in the Columbus, Ohio area for an Automobile Dealership. To many of the area he was known as “Jack the Barber”. He had been a barber for over 62 years. He also served as past president of the Veterans of Foreign Wars.
Survivors include his daughter Kaye Walker and husband Ronnie of Ashland, grandchildren Zachary Williams Walker, Ronda Kaye (Scott) Walker, great grandchildren Leochia Lisa Marie Walker, Brighum Tildon Ray Walker great niece Dreama (Ted) Kellner, Jessica (Bryan) Radecky and their son Reagan, and a host of extended family and friends.
Funeral services will be held 1:00 pm Saturday, July 13, 2019 at the Steen Funeral Home 13th Street Chapel by Gary Salyers. Entombment with military honors will follow the service at Golden Oaks Memorial Gardens in Ashland. Visitation will be Friday evening from 6-8 PM and Saturday from 12:00 Noon till service time at the funeral home.
