Jimmie Lewis Smith

Jimmie Lewis Smith, 72, of Westwood, passed away Sunday, June 21, 2020, at his residence.

He was born November 19, 1947, in Clarksburg, West Virginia, a son of the late, Archie and Wanola Ashcraft Smith. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by a brother in law, Jack Kelley, Jr., and a sister in law, Barbara Cunningham.

Jimmie was a 1965 graduate of Fairview High School and was of the Baptist faith. He served honorably in the U.S. Army while stationed in Germany during the Vietnam Era and retired following a long career of 39 years with Armco Steel. In his retirement, he enjoyed traveling with Eva for Late Model Dirt Car racing and spending time with all his grandchildren. He often traveled to West Virginia to hunt with his cousins and uncles as an avid outdoorsman.

Those left to cherish his memory include his loving wife of 50 years, Eva Mae Ball Smith of Westwood; daughter, Angela Dawn Boggs and husband, Patrick of Flatwoods, KY; son, Jimmie Lewis Smith, II, and wife, Shauna of Bradenton, FL; sisters, Carol Jean Abbey and husband, Tom, and Violet Kelley of Ashland; grandchildren, Kristin Boggs, Cory Boggs, Colt Smith and Riley Smith; and a host of nephews, extended family members and dear friends.

Funeral services will be held at 1:00 p.m. Thursday, June 25, 2020, at STEEN FUNERAL HOME 13th STREET CHAPEL with Pastor Mike Blankenship, officiating. Burial will follow in Bellefonte Memorial Gardens.

Visitation will be held from 6 until 8 p.m. Wednesday, at the funeral home.
