Juanita F. Cox

Juanita Cumbo Friley Cox, 81, of Ashland went to be with her Lord Thursday, January 11, 2018, following an extended illness. Juanita was born June 15, 1936, in Catlettsburg, KY, a daughter of the late Jerry Hatcher and Herma Porter Cumbo. She grew up in Boyd County, attending Boyd County High School. Juanita was a loving wife, mother, and homemaker as well as a longstanding member of Oakland Avenue Baptist Church in Catlettsburg. In addition to her parents, she was also preceded in death by husbands, Bobby Joe Friley of Catlettsburg and Marion E. Cox of Ashland, two sisters, Edna Mae Clark of Oregon, OH and Erma Jean Barker of Catlettsburg. Juanita is survived by a sister, Helen Robinette of Ashland; four children, Peggy (Earl) Wooten of Ashland, Keith Friley of Ashland, Becky (Glen) Hannon of Springdale, OH, Gary Steven (Patty) Friley of Ashland, ten grand-children, eleven great grandchildren and her dear friend Margie Leidecker of Ashland. She was also blessed with five step-children, thirteen step-grandchildren, five step great-grandchildren, several nieces, nephews and a host of extended family and friends. Funeral services will be held 1:00pm Monday, January15, 2018 at the Steen Funeral Home 13th St. Chapel by Mike Blankenship. Private burial will follow at Catlettsburg Cemetery. Visitation for family and friends will be from 11:00am-1:00pm Monday at the funeral home.
