Juanita Gibson

Juanita Margaret Gibson of Ashland, KY, died peacefully in her home surrounded by her family on September 11th, 2020 at the age of 92. Born on March 10th, 1928 in Lawrence County, she was the daughter of the late Roy and Ona Moore. She was a devoted follower of Christ and life-long member of Central Baptist Church.
Juanita is survived by two daughters, Anna (Clarence “B.B.”) Cooper, of Ashland, and Patricia (Steven) Stormes, of Ironton; 7 grandchildren, J.R. (Marilee) Cooper, Angela (Marty) Franklin, Tina (Pete) Leighty, Charlie (Shelly) Tackette, Stephanie (Mike) Carter, Robert (Billie) Tackette, and Teresa (David) Alexander; 17 great grandchildren, Heather Cooper, Josh Cooper, Matthew (Erin) Rowe, Alyssa (Parker) Coleman, Ericka Leighty, Jimmy (Taylor) Alexander, Derrick Abb, Caitlin (Michael) Weeks, Michael (Noelle) Leighty, Steven Ramey, Alexis (Steven) Mansfield, Tyler (Kaylyn) Tackette, Craig Alexander, Austin (Alexis Lynch) Kelley, Robbie Tackette, Isabella Tackette, Ethan Conley, and Anna Carter; 13 great-great grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews.
She was predeceased by her loving husband of 46 years, Robert Gibson, brother David “Doc” Moore, and sisters Alaska Jenkins and Barbara Moore.
She was a loving and caring matriarch who dedicated herself to the care of her family, which was the pride and joy of her life. The legacy of her generosity, kindness and faith will live on through her loved ones.
A visitation will be held at the Steen Funeral Home Central Avenue Chapel on Wednesday, September 16th, from 11 a.m. – 1 p.m. A private family service will be held immediately after with entombment in the Ashland Cemetery.
