Lonnie William Roberts, Sr., 87, of Ashland, went to his Heavenly Home to be with his Lord and Savior Sunday, July 15, 2018. He peacefully passed away surrounded by his family at Kings Daughters Medical Center in Ashland. Lonnie was born October 20, 1930 in Ashland a son of the late Floyd and Kathleen Dixon Roberts. In addition to his parents he was also preceded in death by the love of his life Wilma Jean Troyer Roberts and his sister Wanda Clester.
Lonnie was a lifelong resident of Ashland. He graduated from Ashland High School and attended Heritage Freewill Baptist Church. He retired as a Credit Manager from Woolworth Department Store and then went on to work in collections with General Heating and Air Conditioning in Flatwoods. He also enjoyed being a Ham Radio Operator, N4DDX. Lonnie proudly served his country during the Korean War with the United States Army.
Lonnie loved his Lord and Savior. His love of Christ was reflected in his love for his family. He was a devoted Husband to his late wife and a loving Father and Grandfather. He will be deeply missed.
Lonnie is survived by his son Dr. L. William Roberts, Jr. and wife Judy of Mt. Sterling, KY, his daughter Kathy Marie Castle and husband Bill of Ashland, grandchildren Jenifer Steger, Stephanie (Michael) Bolen and Kimberly Roberts Bates, step grandchildren Crystal (Keith) Stubblefield and Sunny Castle, great-grandchildren Will, Ford, Annie, John Ryan, Liam, Paige, Elizabeth, Beckham and Briggs, step great grandchildren Alli, Brook, Trinity and Hunter, great-great grandchild Teagen and a host of extended family and friends.
Funeral services will be held 1:00pm Wednesday, July 18, 2018 at the Steen Funeral Home 13th St. Chapel by Pastor Ed Cook. Burial with full military honors will follow the service at the Rose Hill Burial Park.
Visitation will be from 6-8pm Tuesday at the funeral home.
