Mary Lois Sexton, 86, of Flatwoods, passed away Saturday, October 19, 2019 at the Hospice Care Center in Ashland. Mary was born January 19, 1933 in Carter County, Kentucky, a daughter of the late Watt and Leetha Adams Horton. In addition to her parents, Mary was also preceded in death by her husband Billy F. Sexton, brothers Walter “Buddy” Horton, Watt "Junior" (Barbara) Horton, sisters Alene (Wetzel) Thomas, Ruth Sexton and her son-in-law Tom Waggoner.
Mary attended the Flatwoods Church of the Nazarene and worked at the former Wee Wisdom Daycare at the Plaza Community Church of the Nazarene for many years. Mary was a loving homemaker and will be remembered as a loving mother, grandmother and great grandmother.
Those left to cherish her memory include her children Kathy Waggoner of Flatwoods, Ronnie (Robin) Sexton of Ashland, Tim (Jean) Sexton of Baltimore, MD, Mike (Beth) Sexton of Flatwoods, brother Fred (Carol) Horton of Florida, grandchildren Haley Layman, Meredith (Lee) Dickens, Kristen Sexton, Tanner Sexton, Stacy (Larry) Conley, Jessica Waggoner, Amy Hager, great grandchildren Lauren Conley, Ryan Conley, Addison Conley, Gracen Layman, Greer Layman, Liam Dickens, Nora Ruth Dickens, Trenton Powell, Taigan Powell, sister-in-law Mary Jo Horton of New Philadelphia, OH brother-in-law Bob Sexton of Flatwoods, nieces Becky Sexton, Debbie Sexton (Jim) Williams, Barbara Ann (Nelson) Dos Santos, Ann Margaret (Ernie) Archer, nephews Bill (Sara) Horton, and a host of extended family and good friends.
Funeral services will be held 11:00am Friday, October 25, 2019 at the Steen Funeral Home Central Avenue Chapel by Pastor Ken Gowin. Burial will be in the Bellefonte Memorial Gardens in Flatwoods.
Visitation will be Friday morning, prior to the service, from 10:00am-11:00am.
