Nola Campbell Addington, 92, of Catlettsburg, went home to be with the Lord on Thursday, March 21, 2019 in Kingsbrook Lifecare Center.
She was born July 25, 1926, in Pikeville, KY, a daughter of the late Stephen and Sylvania Daniels Campbell. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Norman Wallace Addington in 2014; a son, Wallace Michael Addington; grandson, John Michael Haughton; brothers, Herbert, Herman, Herford, Harold and Hobert Campbell; and sisters, Nettie Helen Yates, Nell Adkins and Norma Roberts.
Nola was a tireless worker. In addition to being a devoted homemaker, she and her husband owned and operated a rental business in Ashland for many years and she worked as a secretary for Greyhound Bus Systems during WWII while her husband, served in the military.
She dedicated her life to her family. She was a loving mother and grandmother and stressed the importance of a good education. She loved music and was an avid reader. She and her husband enjoyed life to the fullest and enjoyed extensive travels, meeting new people and forming lasting friendships. She will long be remembered for her kind, gentle spirit and positive attitude. Her life moto was “ The past cannot be changed but the future is whatever you want it to be.”
Survivors include her daughter, Sandra K. Haughton and husband, John of Bellefonte; grandchildren, Matthew Drury Haughton, Kayla Addington Tutay, Phoenix Addington and Bryson Addington; and 4 great grandchildren.
Funeral services will be held at 10 a.m. Monday, March 25, 2019, at Steen Funeral Home 13th Street Chapel with Rev. Dan L. Godwin officiating. Entombment will follow in Rose Hill Burial Park Mausoleum.
The family would like to express their sincerest appreciation to Dr. Carias and the staff at Kingsbrook Lifecare Center for the exceptional care Nola received and for the many kindnesses she and her family received during her stay.
