Palma Ashley Daniels, 90, of Ashland, died peacefully on Wednesday morning, October 9, 2019, at her residence.
She was born December 25, 1928, in Ashland, KY, a daughter of the late John and Gertrude Cartwright Ashley. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her loving husband, Charles Daniels, Jr. in 1997; brothers, Edward, James and Larry Ashley; and sisters, Ruth Ashley Tolliver, Fran Ashley Hood, Sue Ashley Burkhart and Muriel Ashley Wechsler.
Palma was a longtime member of Second Baptist Church, where she and her dear friend Donna Tackett worked in the Sparrow’s Nook. Throughout her life she worked at Mussetter’s and Craykraft’s Grocery Stores and Lee’s Jewelers. She was a loving and devoted mother, grandmother and great grandmother. Palma will always be remembered for her kind gentle spirit and willingness to help others in need.
Those left to cherish her memory include two sons, Jerry Winn (Nanita) Daniels and Perry Quinn (Stephanie) Daniels; two daughters, Terri Daniels (Jim) Jones and Sherri Daniels (Bob) Parks; sisters, Dorothy Vanhoose and Betty (Doug) Borders; grandchildren, Jason Jones, Justin Jones, Ashley Riggs, Kendal Deerfield, Forest Evans, Danielle McClurg, Mattison Parks, Alec Brown; and 16 great grandchildren.
Funeral services will be held 11:00 a.m. Friday, October 11, 2019 at Steen Funeral Home Central Avenue Chapel with words of comfort provided by Pastor Ed Caudill and her brother in law, Doug Borders. Entombment will follow in Rose Hill Burial Park Mausoleum.
Visitation will be from 5 p.m. until 8 p.m. Thursday, at the funeral home.
