Ronald Ray Schneider of Ashland, passed away Wednesday morning, surrounded by those he loved, at Kings Daughters Medical Center. He was 74. Ronald was born October 23, 1944 in Ironton, OH, a son of the late Earl and Alice Murdock Schneider. In addition to his parents he was also preceded in death by brothers, Jack, Henry, Earl Jr, Raymond, Willard, and William Schneider and a great granddaughter Dixie Rhiannon Lee.
Ronald retired from AK Steel in Steam Power Maintenance. He was an active member of Rose Hill Baptist Church and was Sunday school class officer of the Charles E. Stewart Sunday School Class and a member of the Rose Hill Sanctuary Choir. In his spare time he loved fishing, gardening and most importantly spending time with his family. He was a Boy Scout leader and coached church league basketball.
Those left to cherish his memory include his loving wife of 47 years Freda L. Schneider of Ashland, his children Richard (Susan) Schneider of Ashland, Michael Scott (Sheri) Henry of Catlettsburg, Melissa (Randall) Mavis of Catlettsburg, James Eric (Jessica) Schneider of Orient, OH, Susan (Matthew) McKenzie of Venice, FL, a sister Lillian Schneider Gates, grandchildren Caleb (Bobbi) Henry, Alexandra (Ricky) Massengale, Hannah Mavis, Sarah Schneider, Rachel Schneider, Raegan (Cody) Lemaster, Kari Mavis, Caroline Henry, Josiah McKenzie, Amelia McKenzie, Ella Grace McKenzie, great grandchildren Joan, James, Evelyn and a host of extended family and friends.
Funeral services will be held 1:00pm Saturday, August 3, 2019 at the Rose Hill Baptist Church by Dr. Matt Shamblin. Burial will follow in the Rose Hill Burial Park. Visitation will be prior to the service from 11:00am till service time at 1:00.
