Shirley Murnahan

Shirley Ann Murnahan, 83, of Ashland, passed away at Community Hospice on Monday, March 1, 2021.
She was born June 15, 1937, in Ashland, Kentucky, a daughter of the late Orville and Bertha Mae Hamm Armstrong. Following Shirley’s mothers death, she was raised by her loving aunt and uncle, Pearl and Jesse Smith. She was also preceded in death by a sister, Phyllis Hutchinson; and brothers, Bob Armstrong, Okie Armstrong, and Curtis Armstrong.
Shirley was a 1955 graduate of Ashland High School and retired following a long career with National City Bank. She was an avid fan of Elvis, the Ashland Tomcats, UK Basketball, and Cincinnati Reds Baseball.
Shirley loved nothing more than the sand under her toes, the sun on her skin and the smiles on her grandchildren’s faces.
Those left to cherish her memory include her husband of 63 years, Paul Murnahan of Ashland; daughters, Teri Murnahan of Ashland; Tracy (Tina Stegman) Murnahan of Cincinnati, OH, and Kricket (Brent Rice) Murnahan of Cincinnati, OH; three beloved grandchildren, Elliott and Oliver Murnahan Stegman and Iris Ann Rice; brothers, Cecil, Jim, Carroll Lee, Calvin and Keith Armstrong; and a host of extended family members and dear friends.
Shirley was loved by many and will be missed by all.
A celebration of Shirley’s life will begin at 3:00 p.m. Thursday, March 4, 2021 at Steen Funeral Home 13th Street Chapel with Chaplain Jimm Smedley officiating. Burial will follow at Rose Hill Burial Park.
Visitation will be held from 1:30 p.m. until 3:00 p.m. Thursday, at the funeral home.
