Stanley C. Monn, 78, of Ashland, passed away Monday, September 7, 2020 at his residence. Stanley was born December 17, 1941, in Franklin County, PA, a son of the late David and Hazel Harbaugh Monn. In addition to his parents he was also preceded in death by his daughter Amanda Nikita Monn, a grandson Eric Stanley Monn, six brothers and six sisters.
Stanley loved his country and served proudly with the United States Army during the Vietnam War. His military service spanned for 15 years with numerous awards and medals including the National Defense Medal, Good Conduct Medal, expert M-16 Marksmanship, Army Commendation Medal, Vietnam Service Medal and Vietnam Campaign Medal. Stanley also spent 7 years with the Federal Bureau of Prisons at FCI Ashland as the head chef.
Stanley’s employment also involved 30 years as a self-employed concrete finisher. His concrete and finishing work was exceptional.
Stanley also was a foster parent. He helped children from all around the area have a better outlook on life and gave them the knowledge and care needed to continue on with their lives.
Survivors include his loving wife and best friend Tammy Monn of Ashland, sons Stanly C. Monn Jr. and wife Loral of Panama City, FL, Jonn D. Monn and wife Kimberly of Panama City, FL, Paul E. Monn of Ashland, Eric S. Monn of Greenup County, his very special kids, Jalyssa Moore, Jeremiah Moore, Madison Moore, and Shayne Self, also surviving are sisters Molly Stotler of Hagerstown, MD, Vivian Powell of Waynesboro, PA, brothers Dennis Monn of Hagerstown, MD, Harry Monn of Martinsburg, WV, Lawrence Monn of Waynesboro, PA, Nevin Monn of Waynesboro, PA, grandchildren Mikayla Monn, Kaitlyn Monn, Josh Monn, Rylea Monn, Hunter Monn, Skylar Monn, Cheyenne Ritchie, Brittany Monn, Timmy Monn, Connor Monn, great grandchildren, Walker James Woolums, Braden Johnathan Payne and a host of extended family and good friends.
Graveside services with full military honors will be held 1:00 PM Friday, September 11, 2020 at Golden Oaks Memorial Gardens. Chaplain Jimm Smedley will officiate.
