William Clay “Bill” Kennedy, 77, of Russell, KY, longtime area Minister, passed away Monday, June 3, 2019 at Kings Daughters Medical Center in Ashland. Mr. Kennedy was born January 5, 1942 in Elkton (Todd County), Kentucky, a son of the late Henry Clay Kennedy and Wilma Johnson Nosow. In addition to his parents he was also preceded in death by his first wife Ann Carol Land Kennedy.
Bill was minister of Old Orchard Christian Church for many years. He currently was pastor of the Chesapeake Christian Church in Chesapeake, OH. Before serving in the ministry, Bill worked in Television and Broadcast radio in Louisville and Lexington, KY and several other metropolitan cities. He covered the 1964 Democratic National Convention. He also worked in sales.
Those left to cherish his memory include his loving wife Rita Farris Kennedy, his children Jodi Ann (Scott) Kennedy Roberts, William Joseph (Kari) Kennedy, John Howard Kennedy, Danita Jane Kennedy, step children Melissa (Brett) Goff, Donnie Wallis, Dan Wallis, brother Alan (Jeanne) Kennedy, sisters Janet Powell, Emilie Davis, grandchildren Cheryl Nicole Roberts, Brandon Clay (Jessica) Roberts, Austin Wayne (Aubrey) Roberts, Hannah Brooke Roberts, Caleigh Alyse Roberts, William Jordan Kennedy, Paige Kennedy, Kristine Kennedy, Caitlin Julianna Snyder, John Andrews, Joshua Gabriel, Sam Wallis, Brianna Wallis, great grandchildren Emma Kennedy White, Kaleb Tanner Roberts, Clay Beckett Roberts, Ava Elliott Roberts, baby Boy Roberts soon to arrive and a host of extended family and friends.
Funeral services will be held 11:00am Friday, June, 7, 2019 at the Steen Funeral Home Central Avenue Chapel by Minister Wally Rendel. Entombment will follow the service at Lexington Cemetery in Lexington, KY.
Visitation will be Thursday evening from 6-8pm and Friday morning from 10-11 at the funeral home.
