Wilma Salyers

Wilma Salyers, 86, of Catlettsburg, passed away Tuesday, September 7, 2021 at her residence. Wilma was one of eight children born to the late William Ernest and Grettie Pelfrey Barker. In addition to her parents, she was also preceded in death by her loving husband Charles Salyers, her brother Thomas, sisters Faye and Hazel, a daughter-in-law Linda Salyers and a granddaughter Marissa Salyers.
Wilma was a loving mother and grandmother. She was always willing to help anyone in need. If you came to her home, she made sure that you had a good hot meal to eat. That strong caring and work ethic resonates throughout her family even to this day. Wilma worked as a teacher’s assistant with the Boyd County School System for many years.
Those left to cherish her memory include her sons Charles E. Salyers and wife Diana of Rush, Roger Salyers and wife Brenda of Pedro, OH, Don Salyers and wife Cheryl of Grayson, Tom Salyers and wife Michelle of Walton, daughters Barb Miniard and husband Eddie Joe of Catlettsburg, Irene Walker and husband Phillip Cavendar of Myrtle Beach, SC, Gretta Meadows and husband Johnny of Ashland, Ruth Castle and husband Scott of Umatilla, FL, brother Bill (Ruth) Barker of Ohio, sisters Dorothy Wade of Ohio, Jessie Griffith of Blaine, KY, Katherine (George) Marshall of South Shore, KY, many grandchildren, great grandchildren and a host of extended family and friends.
Funeral services will be held 1:00 p.m. Saturday, September 11, 2021 at STEEN FUNERAL HOME 13TH STREET CHAPEL by Bro. Jack Salyers. Burial will be in the Rose Hill Burial Park.
Visitation will be Saturday, prior to services from 11:00 a.m. until service time at the funeral home.
