Ernest Ray “Mickey” McGuire, 78, of Summit, went home to be with the Lord, Thursday, June 15, 2017, at the Community Hospice Care Center.
He was born September 19, 1938, in Ft. Gay, WV, a son of the late Ernest Carter and Ethel Irene Back McGuire.
Mickey was an active member of Christian Fellowship Church in Catlettsburg. He was a 1954 graduate of Louisa High School and retired after many years of service from Ashland Oil as a Microwave/Radio Technician. Following his retirement he worked for Bell South Communications in Grayson. He was a U.S. Army veteran who served during the Cuban Missile Crisis. He was a member of Fred M. Gross Masonic Lodge, Scottish Rite and a life member of American Relay League and National Rifle Association. He was an avid UK fan. He had a passion for Genealogy and enjoyed being an Amateur Radio Operator, call sign KD4KC.
Survivors include his loving wife of 44 years, Diana Lynn Cartmel McGuire of Summit; son, Ernest Kevin McGuire (Carrie Elizabeth) of Catlettsburg; daughter, Patsy Renee McGuire of Catlettsburg; brother, William Joe McGuire (Sandy) of Catlettsburg; sisters, Judith Webb (Joe) of Catlettsburg, Alice Clark (Chuck) of Grayson, and Linda Franklin (Pat) of Pedro, OH; and grandson, Carter Grant McGuire of Catlettsburg. Additional survivors include a host of loving extended family members and dear friends.
Funeral services will be held Noon Tuesday, June 20, 2017, at Steen Funeral Home 13th Street Chapel with Pastor Sam Corns officiating. Burial will follow at Kentucky Veterans Cemetery, North East where military honors will be provided by the U.S. Army and American Legion Kenova Post 93.
Visitation will be from 11am until Noon Tuesday, at the funeral home.
